In beauty, packaging is often the first thing a customer notices. A tube of face wash or night cream has only a few seconds on the shelf, or a few pixels on an e-commerce page, to look trustworthy and attractive. It then has to protect the formula for months and dispense it cleanly every day.
Cosmetic lami tubes do all of this well, which is why they are the default choice for so many creams, gels and lotions. This guide explains what cosmetic lami tubes are, which laminate to choose, how to plan size, printing and caps, and how to take a new tube from idea to production. You can see our full range under cosmetics lami tubes.
A cosmetic lami tube is a flexible tube made from a laminate, which is a sheet of several bonded layers. The laminate is printed, formed into a sleeve, sealed along its side, and fitted with a shoulder, neck and cap. The brand fills the tube through the open end and seals it. The result is a lightweight, hygienic pack that dispenses just the right amount and protects the product from air and contamination.
The laminate decides how well the tube protects your formula and how it looks during use.
| Laminate | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PBL (Plastic Barrier Laminate) | Creams, face washes, gels, lotions, sunscreens | Springs back to shape and keeps a premium look until the last squeeze |
| ABL (Aluminium Barrier Laminate) | Hair colour, oxygen- or light-sensitive actives | Aluminium foil gives the highest barrier and the tube stays folded, limiting air intake |

Laminated tubes are commonly produced in diameters from about 16 mm to 35 mm. Smaller diameters suit trial packs, eye creams and travel sizes. Larger diameters suit family-size face washes and body creams. The tube length is then set to reach the fill volume you need, while leaving headspace for sealing. Tell us your target volume and product density, and we will suggest the most economical diameter and length combination.
The tube surface is your brand's billboard. Cosmetic lami tubes can be printed in multiple colours, with fine text for ingredients and regulatory details. Popular finishing options include:

The cap affects convenience, shelf presence and perceived quality. Screw caps offer a secure seal, flip-top caps allow one-handed use, and stand-up caps let the tube rest upright so the product flows towards the opening. Our research and development team supports brands through each of these stages.
Some brands consider extruded seamless tubes as an alternative. Seamless tubes have no side seam but offer different barrier and print characteristics. Compare both in our article on seamless cosmetic tubes.

Cosmetic lami tubes are squeezable tubes made from a printed, multi-layer laminate and used to pack creams, lotions, face washes, gels, hair colour and other beauty products. They combine product protection with a large printable surface for branding.
Most creams, face washes and gels use PBL tubes because they keep their shape and look premium. Formulas that are sensitive to oxygen or light, or that must not be exposed to air after squeezing, such as many hair colour creams, are often packed in ABL tubes.
Yes. Cosmetic lami tubes can be printed in multiple colours with gloss or matte finishes, and customised in diameter, length and cap style to match the brand's design.
Common options include screw caps, flip-top caps and stand-up caps, which let the tube rest on its cap. Antilla Propack supplies plastic lami tube caps and stand-up tube caps.
Compatibility testing checks that the formula does not react with the inner layer, leak from the seal, change colour or lose fragrance over time. Testing samples before bulk production avoids costly problems after launch.
